News Release for the Village of Arkport Water Main Improvements
The Village of Arkport, in cooperation with USDA Rural Development, has announced that it has secured funding to finance the following work on the Village’s potable water system:
Replacement of existing water mains on portions of the following streets.
Oak Hill Street
Old Main Street
Replacement of the existing raw water transmission main from the fresh water springs to the water treatment plant.
Upgrades to the water collection system at the fresh water springs.
The purpose of this work is to reduce water loss from leaks and breaks in the old water mains, to improve fire protection flow rates and to increase the available water supply for the Village.
The project is currently under design by Lu Engineers. They will be conducting a field survey of the potential water main routes beginning the week of September 14, 2015. The surveyors will primarily be mapping the surface features and underground utilities within the road right-of-way. However, the surveyor may need to enter the front of your property to locate your house corners, existing water service and other surface features that could be impacted by the water main installation.
The exact routes of the new water mains will be chosen during the design process and are currently unknown. Development of the engineering plans will be performed during the fall and winter of 2015 with construction currently scheduled to start in 2016 and to be completed in 2017.
Further information on this project may be obtained from the Village Clerk, Jennifer Bush at 295-7346 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
